Horrendous’ sex education lessons to be investigated by UK children’s commissioner

Rachel de Souza, the children’s commissioner, said she would be looking into the teaching of sex education

The children’s commissioner has told of her shock on learning about the “horrendous” examples of sex education materials used in schools.

Dame Rachel de Souza told the commons education committee that she would be looking into the teaching of relationships and sex education (RSE).

It came after the Tory MP Miriam Cates, who sits on the committee, said constituents had written to her raising concerns about a nine-year-old taught “in detail” about rape.

She previously detailed examples of children shown dice with body parts written on them, to prompt them to suggest different sex positions, and children taught about rough sex, spanking and choking.

“Thoughtful and age-appropriate” materials were “absolutely critical”, De Souza said, and she had particularly looked at this where it concerned the….

Can we be confident this is not happening in U.S. schools?

Some state legislators are crafting “age appropriate” laws to make sure this is not happening here. Parents need to stay engaged.

Fail To “Affirm?” Might End Up In Court or Get Cancelled

According to ace journalist Abigail Shrier, US Child Protective Services…

has already become thoroughly politicized and weaponized by the Left. Dozens and dozens of loving parents have told me over the last two years that CPS showed up at their homes or threatened their custody or even testified against them in court, all for the sin of failing to “affirm” their minor child’s newly-announced gender identity or vetoing the kid’s immediate medical transition.

In California, matters head from bad to worse: a new bill aspires to transform California into a “sanctuary state” for gender-swapping youth, making it possible for even a non-custodial parent to run to California to transition her child against her ex-spouse’s wishes.

Here, then, is the question: If our ultimate goal is return to a normalcy in which government agencies and corporations treat all Americans fairly regardless of viewpoint, how are we to achieve this?

To find out, Abigail says: “Welcome to the Party, Pal.” [read the whole thing].

She documents how the Ideologues have CANCELLED certain dissenting voices.

Will they come for you too?

Of course, for my Christian Brothers and Sisters, we must fight the way Jesus fought. Silencing, deplatforming, cancelling, shouting down our ideological opponents is not Christian. We must listen to what they have to say. And then speak the Truth as we understand it. Unfortunately, the more I study this issue and the forces in play, I’m led to the conclusion that the Gender Ideologues are not terribly interested in dialogue or viewpoint diversity. For them, this is a massive Power Play

This shouldn’t be a “Left” “Right” issue.

All people should shout, HALT, to ideologues experimenting on children.

So, if you disagree with the Gender Ideologues, as I do. (As do most Americans.) You need to learn about the issue, and take a stand.

I hope to help you in that effort.

Institutions of Western culture are denying biology. And real Women are suffering. Also, for all Christians, those institutions are denying the way God made us. Many political liberals not wedded to Queer Theory or Body Denialism are going to vote this upcoming election with the intent of protecting their young children.

As they should.

Yet Shrier rightfully warns (read the piece for context)….

We critics of Gender Ideology are left to wonder: When will I swipe my credit card and find my payment’s been denied? Or attempt to rent an Airbnb, only to be told my money’s no good there either?

A final warning from a High School teacher in Texas, a gay man, about the True Believers of Gender Ideology:

This point was best put to me by a high school teacher in Texas, a gay man, regularly hounded by his school administrators to teach gender ideology to his students. Here’s the remarkable thing: he doesn’t want to, doesn’t think it’s a good use of his time, and doesn’t believe encouraging his students to obsess over their sexual orientation during class is anywhere near as helpful to high school students as the material he trained to teach them. But he also doesn’t think passing a law banning gender ideology will make the slightest difference.

"I try to tell parents, if you’re considering pulling your kids out of public school—do—because you can go to as many school board meetings as you want and complain. There’s still going to be people who are going to teach whatever they want."

Read the whole thing.

Please see the following corroboration:

Is this the world we want to live in? Political Escalation may be one solution. School Choice may be another.

To my liberal readers (you know who you are) please read this comment to Shrier’s piece:

ClemenceDane I am a traditional Liberal (I guess you could call me a “1990s and earlier Liberal”) and yes, I greatly object to censorship, delisting, canceling, disinviting, removal from Amazon (and eBay and Target and Powells and Barnes and Noble etc.) of any book. I don’t want to read a Pro-Life book, but I don’t want it removed or censored. I’m still waiting for second hand copies of those “banned” Dr. Seuss books to come down low enough in price that I can afford a copy of McElligot’s Pool, my favorite Seuss book of childhood. It’s appalling that his works were removed from Amazon and libraries. It’s also appalling that the American Library Association removed Laura Ingalls Wilder’s name from the award created in her honor because a bunch of 2 dimensional thinkers screamed at them about her depictions of white settlers who were anti-Native American. Never mind that one of the women in question had seen her entire family massacred by Native Americans. Never mind that Wilder goes out of her way to show that the characters who are critical of Native Americans are less noble and tolerant than her own family, who actually hide a Native American man in their cabin when a gang of armed white men comes after him. It calls into question the integrity and legitimacy of every award they give out, including the Newberry Award. I will always support Classical Liberal values like free speech, free thought, free expression, open debate, a free press, etc. I also don’t think it is “liberal” to expose young children to drag queens. Or to free violent felons from prisons and defund the police. What on earth is Liberal about that? These are radical anarchic Leftists.

Gender Queer & School Choice

All over the country in the last 9 months, parents and politicians are calling on School Boards to remove objectionable material from their schools. For example, Gov Greg Abbott of Texas sent a letter to the state’s school board association saying public schools shouldn’t distribute “pornographic or obscene material.”

School Districts all around the country are removing objectionable material from their school libraries. Some call this “book banning.”

You are not banning a book by restricting the distribution of the book to minors. Is Playboy, or Penthouse, or Hustler, etc., being BANNED because you have to be 18 to purchase/view those publications?

No.

Two books in particular are being taken off school library shelves. Gender Queer, A Memoir by Maia Kebabe & Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison.

Kobabe and Evison noted during recent interviews an irony of their books being targeted: Neither set out to write a story for young people. But they gained a following among students with the help of the American Library Association, which has given each book an Alex Award for works "written for adults that have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18." - USA Today

OK put on your parent’s “hat” and ask yourself, is this appropriate material for ages 12-18? We’ll just look at the first one. Kebabe was born female. But identifies as Non-Binary.

Yes, I know, 12-18 year olds access material far more graphic than this on their Smartphones.

Still, to have an institution of learning, our public school libraries, institutions put in place by our tax dollars, to have them supporting the distribution of material like this gives that material our tacit approval.

Some parents may approve. But the majority will not. And the rights of those parents deserve to be respected.

One parent at a Chicago School Board meeting said: “It’s not your right to decide if our minor children should have access to pornography.”

You could argue about the “pornography” bit, but most would agree this is inappropriate material for TWELVE YEAR OLDS!

When one school board member in Spotsylvania County Virginia suggested “those books” should be tossed in a fire, NPR finished their article about this with the words: “Book Burning was a practice perpetuated in Nazi Germany in order to oppress authors and ideas that were in opposition to Nazi ideology.”

Things are heating up.

Almost everyone would be opposed to book burning. That’s not what this is about. Book banning, either. Again…

You are not banning a book by restricting the distribution of the book to minors. Is Playboy, or Penthouse, or Hustler, etc., being BANNED because you have to be 18 to view those publications?
No.

Parents. Get to know what is going on in your schools. And exercise your civic rights on behalf of your children.

Please refer to my category ”Schools & Gender Ideology” for examples.

It’s time to bring School Choice back into our political discussions.

Many today call for public education reform so that the money “follows the student” instead of going to designated school districts, some of which are failing academically, as well as failing to live up to the historic in loco parentis1in place of the parent expectation. These reformers insist the 1964 Civil Right’s Act anti-discrimination guidelines will still be followed, guidelines which specifically reference “race, color, religion, national origin” and “sex” discrimination. Nobody wants to “turn back the clock” on those advances. Practical matters like transportation issues can be worked out. These reformers say, let the parents pick the schools on a rational geographic basis. If your local school is “preaching” a gender ideology that you as a parent disagree with, then you should have the flexibility to send your child elsewhere. Just like in Sweden, where the money follows the child. You are not locked into a particular school simply because of where you live. We need to allow parents creative choice solutions to a very real and for them disturbing trend in education.

I would personally support something like the Swedish education model without disregarding the religious “free exercise” clause in our Constitution. A clause which supports freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. Otherwise, we would veer off into anti-religious bigotry. A very real concern these days.

Here is an interesting link about the Swedish Culture and Economy. We have been told that Swedish society is based on a socialist model. Well, that was then. 30 years ago. This is now. At around 33:43 into the video, they start talking about how the Swedes do public education. But you might want to watch the whole thing.

***

Some think this too extreme, which given the current state of public education in America, I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to experiment with different solutions.

I know many public school educators. I have great respect for most of them. But, I’ve personally witnessed more than a few inadequate teachers, administrators and failing schools. So if you think American parents will accept this new understanding of in loco parentis2In Place of the Parent and simply roll with gender ideology, you might be mistaken. After the remote learning experience of the last 2 years & the unwillingness of schools to reopen, many parents are deciding to pull the plug on the current local school option, if at all possible.

Obviously for most parents this is not feasible. But if the money followed the student they just might vote with their feet. And I wouldn’t blame them.
